You can also watch on your computer or smartphone through our website.

Please note that our online services are live and subject to unforeseen technological glitches. Should our broadcast freeze, lose audio, video, or otherwise be interrupted, be patient. If we haven’t sorted it out in a minute or two, you can try refreshing the page. If it’s been several minutes or you see a notice that the video has been removed (due to overaggressive artificial intelligence monitors), go back to our main YouTube landing page and check to see if we’ve started over with a new feed. Perhaps use this time to pray for your worship team. It certainly can’t hurt.

RE-ENTRY PLANS IN PROGRESS
(an update from Father Duane)

Dear friends,

It has been 13 weeks since we began worshiping and gathering online. As much as we’ve adapted to our new way of doing church, we also long to see each other and gather together in person.

At this month’s Vestry meeting, we will finalize our plans for July, August, and September. Our discussions will continue to reflect on the theological, moral, and legal implications of gathering in person. The Vestry, staff, and I are looking at how we can safely uphold our core value of welcoming all while observing mandated restrictions. There are new procedures and precautions to be defined and delegated. And we must find a way to continue to include those who can’t join us in-person because of distance or risk. I ask your patience as we figure all these things out.

I expect to be able to share a detailed plan with you before the end of the month. Please remember us in your prayers as we seek to safely gather our congregation with a focus of bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ to everyone.

GUN LEGISLATION UPDATE
House Bill 334, which proposed amending current gun laws to allow lawfully permitted concealed guns in houses of worship without knowledge or permission of church authorities, was amended in the Senate to require permission of church authorities. The bill has been signed by the Speaker of the House and will proceed to the Governor’s desk. For the digest of the bill as passed by the senate, see http://www.legis.la.gov/Legis/ViewDocument.aspx?d=1177969

Read Bishop Thompson’s May 28 letter to the editor of the The Times-Picayune/Advocate, expressing his opposition to the bill.

MINISTRY OPPORTUNITY
Readers needed! We need people to pre-record readings for our Sunday worship service! If you have a smartphone or computer with video recording ability, you have all the equipment you need. Please let Fr. Duane know at Duane@AnnunciationEpiscopal.com

PARISH NEWS
Annunciation Vestry News
Annunciation’s vestry met last Sunday and discussed the use of preprinted envelopes for giving by mail; the legal moral and practical ramifications of re-entry into the church building; building and grounds issues; receipt of PPP funds, and possibility of adjusting annual budget in June. Vestry will meet again June 28.

Mount Olivet Building Update
Exploratory demolition has been completed on the church and structural engineering work is expected to begin June 10. Once we receive the structural engineer’s report, we will be able to put together a better timeline for the repairs. We are expecting the work on the church will keep the church building closed for repairs for most of the summer.

Youth News
Happening #84 has been postponed and will be rescheduled for September 25-27, 2020. Further details on registration will be available in late August. The Diocese is reaching out to those who have registered for the May weekend. If you have any questions, please email the Rev. Jane-Allison Wiggin-Nettles at jwigginnettles@edola.org

GIVING
The work of the Church goes on, even if the building is closed. Your generosity is needed and appreciated more than ever. Please give what you can, and if you are concerned about being able to fulfill your pledge, just reach out to Bates Whiteside or Jessica Jackson at Annunciation or Cyndi Hardy at Mount Olivet. Together, we can weather these uncertain times.

Give her a call at 535-4452. We are also grateful to accept your gift at any time in either of the following ways:

Donate online at www.AnnunciationEpiscopal.com/Give or www.MountOlivet.org/Give.

STAYING CONNECTED

YouTube Live
Our online worship services are best viewed and heard through your internet-enabled TV. Open the YouTube app or channel and use the search window to locate Church of the Annunciation Episcopal and subscribe to our YouTube Live channel.

Zoom Meetings
Zoom is a video-conferencing tool that is free and very easy to use. If you already have Zoom and know how to join a meeting, our meeting IDS are the same as our main phone numbers. 504 895 8697 for Annunciation, and 504 366 4650 for Mount Olivet. We use the same password for all our meetings. Message Father Duane if you don’t know it.

Zoom works best when we can all see each other, but if you do not have access to a computer or smartphone with a video camera, you can still join in by telephone. Dial (346) 248-7799 and when prompted, enter the Meeting ID. Call Father Duane for the numeric passcode.
