ALL SAINTS ALTAR MEMORIALS
All Saints Day will be observed on Sunday, November 1.  Please provide any names of departed souls you wish to honor using
this online form by this Thursday, October 29.  A donation of $20 - $40 is suggested, but any amount is appreciated. If writing a check, please make it payable to the Church of the Annunciation or Church of the Mount Olivet, with “All Saints Memorial” in the memo line. Mail to 4505 S. COMMUNION THIS SUNDAY MORNING AT OUTDOOR SERVICE 
In-person worship service of Holy Eucharist (Rite II) will be celebrated on November 01 at
10 am on the lawn of Annunciation, live streamed on YouTube. Things to know if you are attending in-person:

  • Bring your own seating, water/coffee, and Book of Common Prayer if you have one.
  • Park in the parking lot at Claiborne and Cadiz and enter the worship area through the picket fence gate.
  • Godly Play for kids PreK-5th Grade will be at 9:15. Check in (with temperature checks) from 9-9:15. Bring a yoga/exercise mat or blanket for your child to sit on.
  • Stay home if you are unwell or at risk of serious complications from Covid-19.
  • Masks and physical distancing between households are required.

EVENING PRAYER 6 PM SUNDAY INDOORS & ONLINE

A service of Evening Prayer, Rite II is said inside the Church of the Annunciation on Sundays at 6 pm and livestreamed on Facebook. Masks, temperature checks, and social distancing required for in-person attendance.

We are getting back to basics to this fall by turning to our Book of Common Prayer instead of using customized bulletins. If you do not own a current edition of the prayer book, let us know and we will get you one. MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES

Minister to the Homeless - Volunteers Needed
The Broadmoor Improvement Association is seeking volunteers to help with tent set-up and distributing bagged lunches, toiletries, and other resources to individuals experiencing homelessness in the area, through the Program of Hope Ministry, in partnership with First Presbyterian Church. The program operates Wednesdays, starting November 4th, from 10am-11:30am. Volunteers must be able to adhere to CDC COVID-19 safety guidelines and be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Please contact Bethanie Mangigian, BIA Wellness Director, for more information.

If you are looking for non-partisan, research-driven information on ballot issues, Annunciation’s Senior Warden Marcie Courtney recommends The Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana (PAR), an independent source of information on state and local government issues.

Jackson Nettles, Annunciation’s senior acolyte, will provide training for acolytes. This is open to children at both churches ages 4 and up. For the wee ones, we have the children's cross. Older kids will carry the large cross and torches. Email Jackson to sign up.

Diocesean Convention October 24
The 183rd Annual Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana was held virtually on Saturday, October 24. A delegation of members of both Annunciation and Mount Olivet participated: Todd Gonczy, Bates Whiteside (Annunciation) and Marty Strobel, Dennis Whaley (Mount Olivet), Rev. Duane Wiggin-Nettles (Clergy) and Kyran Pittman (Delegation Captain). The Address to the Diocese by Bishop Thompson, and the keynote address by former Presiding Bishop the Most Reverend Katharine Jefferts Schori can be viewed at www.edola.org/2020-convention.

In lieu of using a classroom format for our fall introduction/refresher on our history, tradition and theology, Rev. Bring your furry, feathered, or scaly friends (appropriately secured, please!) by Annunciation for a blessing Sunday, October 25, from 4-6 pm on the lawn of Annunciation. If you can’t get out in-person, introduce your pet at Half-Caff zoom coffee (½) hour following the 10 am service and we’ll ask St. Francis for a blessing over them.

OUTDOOR WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY, PRACTICE RUN SATURDAY 
In-person worship resumes with a service of Morning Prayer (no Communion) on October 18 at 10 am on the lawn of Annunciation. Things to know before you come:

  • Bring your own camp chairs/blanket.
  • Park in the parking lot at Claiborne and Cadiz and enter the worship area through the picket fence gate.
  • Godly Play for kids PreK-5th Grade will be outdoors at 9:15. Check in (with temperature checks) from 9-9:15. Bring a yoga/exercise mat or blanket that can be folded and place on the ground for seating.

There will be a practice run for everyone involved in the service (greeters, ushers, musicians, altar and flower guild volunteers, Godly Play helpers, acolytes, readers, and worship committee members) on site, Saturday, October 17 at 9:30 am.

Together Louisiana is building a statewide network of block captains to increase voter turnout. Training and materials are provided. Prayers are published in the weekly email newsletter (unless confidentially is requested). Please submit prayer requests to www.annunciationepiscopal.com/prayers or contact Rev. Duane at Duane@AnnunciationEpiscopal.com or (504) 357-8211. Prayer requests will automatically expire from our email announcements after one month. If you want to renew a request, just let us know.

GIVING
The work of the Church goes on, even if the building is closed. Your generosity is needed and appreciated more than ever. Please give what you can, and if you are concerned about being able to fulfill your pledge, just reach out to Bates Whiteside or Jessica Jackson. Together, we can weather these uncertain times. 

The all-around best way to give is with a recurring contribution through your bank account. It’s easy to set this up online, or our Parish Administrator Jessica Jackson can walk you through it.
