Worship Committee members Chris Pomfret and Philip Howell met with Rev. Duane on Annunciation's lawn last week to review fall outdoor worship plans.
PLANS FOR OUTDOOR WORSHIP TAKING SHAPE
A committee of vestry members from both parishes has been diligently at work ensuring a safe and smooth return to in-person worship this fall. They will present a plan to the Vestry boards this Sunday, addressing safety protocols, rain day contingency, and special considerations for our kids returning to Godly Play. Vestry and clergy are committed to continuing to offer remote participation to those who are not able to gather in person, so a lot of thought is also going into what our “hybrid” form of church attendance will look like-- how to live stream in-person worship and small group activities, how we address privacy concerns, and how technology can serve those at a distance while being unobtrusive to those near. Stay tuned for details on all these issues and more!

BE THE BRIDGE FORUM IDEAS
Last Sunday’s Be the Bridge forum (on Zoom), generated a long list of exciting ideas from members of all five small groups who have been discussing the book on racial reconciliation. We asked participants for steps our churches could take in the next 3 months, the next year, and long term, and we have a lot to choose from! We will gather them into a document before the end of the month and come up with a plan for discerning priorities and involving the wider parish communities.

What’s the buzz at Annunciation & Mount Olivet

(Scroll down for a complete list of what’s happening in our parishes)

HELP US MAKE OUR AUGUST GIVING GOAL
Staying connected in this time of pandemic presents your church with unique operating costs, in addition to the upkeep of our building and usual overhead. Please give as you are able. An automatically recurring weekly gift through your bank account or credit/debit card gives you one less thing to remember, and helps keep our cash flow stable.

REV. DUANE IS BACK THIS SUNDAY WITH COMBINED SERVICE
Going forward, the 10am Sunday service will be a combined service hosted by Mount Olivet and Annunciation. For the next couple of weeks, we will continue with online only services. The combined Vestries are meeting together this Sunday, August 30 to discuss in-person worship possibilities.

GREEN LIGHT FOR PARENT EDUCATIONAL CO-OP AT MT. OLIVET
The Diocese has given the greenlight for Mount Olivet to proceed with a Parent Educational Co-op in the Parish Hall. The Co-op is a ministry of Mount Olivet that will welcome 12 families and 14 children into the Parish Hall on school days that the International School of Louisiana (Algiers Point) is hosting remote learning. The children will work on their remote assignments together with supervision from parent volunteers. This will enable parents to have a much needed break or return to work. During this time, the Parish Hall cannot be used by any other groups, including church members. Please do not enter the Parish Hall, even after hours or on the weekends, as we need to maintain a clean environment.

SUPPORT THE HURRICANE RELIEF FUND
Episcopal Development and Relief has a Hurricane Relief Fund to help vulnerable communities devastated by Hurricane Laura and other Gulf Coast storms. Your gift will provide their partners on the ground with critical supplies, such as food and water, pastoral care and other urgent needs. You’ll also help assist with the long-term efforts needed to rebuild and heal. Go to support.episcopalrelief.org/hurricane-relief to donate or learn more.
