ADVENT BEGINS THIS SUNDAY WITH NEW SERVICE TIMES
ADVENT BEGINS THIS SUNDAY, November 29 with updated service times:
The expanded service schedule is intended to provide more options for our congregations to safely gather as we enter the rainy season again.
9am Holy Communion. A simple service of Holy Eucharist, Rite II will always be held inside the church at Annunciation each Sunday. This service will have instrumental organ music and will not be livestreamed. Masks are required to enter the building and strict social distancing between households will be observed. Attendance will be capped at one third of our total seating capacity, well below the most recent revised guidelines from the city and state.
9:30am Godly Play. Godly Play moves back a half-hour to accommodate the new service times. Check-in with temperature screening of children begins at 9:20.
10:30am Morning Prayer. A service with music led by Steven and Jessica will continue to be outside when the weather permits. Once a month Holy Communion will be celebrated, to be announced ahead of time based on the weather. When it is too wet to be outside, this service will move inside the church. Masks will be required to enter the building and strict social distancing between households will be observed. Live streaming of this service will continue for the benefit of those who are safest at home.
GET TEXT ALERTS FOR WEATHER CANCELLATIONS

ADVENT BOOK STUDY: LIGHT OF THE WORLD
Join us for a series of conversations about connecting the Gospel stories to the Old Testament, the role of women in first-century Jewish culture, the revolutionary implications of Mary’s Magnificat, and more! We’ll be reading the book Light of the World, by biblical scholar Amy-Jill Levine, and meeting weekly as a small group to discuss. Begins Wednesday, December 2 on Zoom, 5:30-7 pm. Zoom Meeting ID 504 895 8697. Let Kyran know if you wish to participate.
FREE ADVENT RESOURCES:
Church Publishing offers several free resources for individuals and families looking for ways to observe Advent, including a daily devotional for adults and an activity pack for children. A family Advent Liturgy for use at home will be distributed at our services on Sunday.

VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED FOR OUTDOOR SERVICES
S.O.S! Save Outdoor Services! We urgently need more volunteers to help on Sunday mornings. If you are coming to outdoor services, please email Kim Baker, Chair of the Worship Committee, to let us know when and how you can pitch in with the following functions:
Email or text Rev. Duane for the Zoom password. It is the same for every meeting at both churches. Or SIGN UP FOR WEEKLY EMAIL NEWS TO GET LINKS FOR 1-CLICK ACCESS TO ZOOM MEETINGS
Play with Fire! Be an acolyte!
Jackson Nettles, Annunciation’s senior acolyte, will provide training for acolytes. This is open to children at both churches ages 4 and up. For the wee ones, we have the children's cross. Older kids will carry the large cross and torches. Email Jackson to sign up.
More than ever, we need beauty in our lives! Sponsor the Sunday Altar Flowers by signing up with Suzanne Fontan. You can donate $40 towards the flowers or arrange them yourself.

Marcie Courtney Honored by ECW
Annunciation’s Senior Warden and longtime parishioner Marcie Courtney was recently recognized at the Presentation of Honored Women by the Episcopal Church Women in the Diocese of Louisiana. Maureen Young nominated Marcie, citing her years of devoted service to Annunciation, and her record of personal concern and caring for members of the community. Congratulations, Marcie!
A Visit from St. Nicholas
St. Nicholas is coming to Annunciation/Mount Olivet on Sunday, December 13! Kids will be able to pose with him (safely distanced) for photos. By happy coincidence, Brother Todd Van Alstyne, O.P., will be guest preaching that day at the 10:30 service. Brother Van Alstyne is a Friar in the Anglican Order of Preachers.
Prayers are published in the weekly email newsletter (unless confidentially is requested). Please submit prayer requests to www.annunciationepiscopal.com/prayers or contact Rev. Duane at Duane@AnnunciationEpiscopal.com or (504) 357-8211. Prayer requests will automatically expire from our email announcements after one month. If you want to renew a request, just let us know.
The work of the Church goes on, even if the building is closed. Your generosity is needed and appreciated more than ever. Please give what you can, and if you are concerned about being able to fulfill your pledge, just reach out to Bates Whiteside or Jessica Jackson. Together, we can weather these uncertain times.
The all-around best way to give is with a recurring contribution through your bank account. It’s easy to set this up online, or our Parish Administrator Jessica Jackson can walk you through it. Give her a call at 535-4452. We are also grateful to accept your gift at any time in either of the following ways:
